CRY FOR HELP !!!

If you don't know about APEX magazine, you should. It's a horror and sci-fi magazine that actually publishes good stories. Due to a string of bad luck, it is in serious financial troubles.

It needs 200 subscriptions in two weeks to stay afloat. I know I bought one. You get a whole year for $20. I personally know someone else who has bought one, as well.

Even if you don't usually get subscriptons, try it this one time. It's only $20. ALSO - very important - please post this to your live journals to get the word out. They are running out of time.

Please visit:

Graduate school sucks

Don't read this if you don't want to hear negativitiy and complaints.

I am tired. I have been in school a long, long time. I am 36 years old and I have one more semester to go - after this one - and then I have to take comps. I am so intimidated by comps. I have no idea if I can possibly remember everything I need to know to get through them. Three questions? That's insane.

Also, I have a life. I have a home with an overgrown flower bed, a lawn that needs to be weeded and about a 100 other things I do not have time for. Inside that house is about three works worth of laundry and carpets that need to be replaced but I don't have time.

TIME TIME TIME. full time classes. full time job. full time marriage. full time everything. there isn't any blankety blank time for anything.

I am constantly persistently annoyingly on the go, go, go, go.

Tuesday morning I went to sheperherdsville with a friend of mine and we stopped and looked at this darling yellow house with two back decks, a nice fire place, a large back yard with a concrete koi pond and a large gardener' shed. It had a two car carport on the side with a large rounded concrete pad where I could picture fall parties taking place.

I grew up in a small town, mostly. My family are country people. I wanted to call that lady up on the FOR SALE sign and move in this week. I want to be a librarian in a small library and have weekly poetry readings and children's book clubs. I want to order books for browsing collections and arrange comfy chairs around them to lure people in to plop down and read them. I want to have morning coffee's on Tuesday for the Ladies Auxillary.

I want to have time to plant my front garden beds and lay in a million tulip bulbs for the spring and take my dog for a long walk without feeling guilty because all my homework isn't done.

And, right now, I want a big bowl of chocolate icecream.

National Book Festival!

Did you even know there was any such thing as a National Book Festival? How cool does that sound? Really? Books AND fair food = happiness!

http://www.loc.gov/bookfest/

It is sponsored and arranged and funded and etc. by the Library of Congress. The above link gives all sorts of tasty news about it. It says:

"The 2006 National Book Festival, organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress and hosted by First Lady Laura Bush, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between 7th and 14th streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rain or shine). The festival is free and open to the public."

Now, I have tried not to hold Mr. GW Bush against Laura Bush. Sometimes, we cannot help who we fall in love with. Sometimes, we are even blinded horribly by love - see Trojan War. So put all your bad feelings aside and just wallow in the fact that there is a National Book Festival!

I want to go soooo badly.

LIS 636 - microcomputers in libraries and information centers

See, I'm taking this class that requires a new blog. I have a regular block at http://silkandstalking.livejournal.com/ where I drone on about politics, movies, magick and social stupidity.

I guess I can talk about library stuff here. I want to be a librarian. It shouldn't be that hard.

I am in library school this semester - taking three classes. I work full time. I am married. I will have very little time for anything I enjoy - except maybe one game on Monday nights.

that's it. be gentle with me.
