News and memories... KLA 2006 conference

I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. IF I can pass all my classes, I will graduate in May (oh, and pass comps.).

Remembering KLA Conference 2006.

I did a poster session at this conference that I poured blood sweat and tears into. They were only up for 1 hr. Do you believe that? The more I think about it, the more it ticks me off.

I had attended the KLA conference in Louisville in 2005 as a presenter. I did a fun, multi-media talk (read=powerpoint) about online gaming. I had been contacted by Geneva Huttenlocher (sp?). She was a gem - very nice lady. Our professor, Mark Paul, followed my presentation and later told me he had heard good things about my presentation. I enjoyed the whole experience so much - the conversation with people who were interested in things I was interested in.

This last year, I get an hour at the end of a cold table. Few people had a chance to come by and see the posters. The presenters had no time to go around and see what other people had done. I - biased, i know - felt my poster on the robotic retrieval system at UofL was interesting AND informative and I KNOW few people got to even look at it. I left the experience feeling as if it were a waste. It could have been so much more helpful for attendees.

Later I spoke to the lady in charge. She agreed. She also said that next year, they would look to do things differently.
